Treatment Plan

  1. 01

Step One: Find Out The Source Of The Pain

Combined with medical history, pain manifestations and functional assessment, if necessary, MRI, CT, ultrasonography, digital X-ray and neuroelectrophysiological examination can be used to assist in judgment.

  2. 02

Step Two: Joint Assessment To Establish Direction

It depends on the situation. The case can be jointly evaluated by the Department of Pain Medicine, Department of Neurology, Department of Orthopedics, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Department of Medical Imaging.

  3. 03

Step Three: Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis, Treatment And Conditioning

The treating team formulates an individualized plan through Traditional Chinese Medicine, integrating acupuncture, tuina, moxibustion, and other Traditional Chinese Medicine methods. The first phase of treatment usually lasts 4–8 weeks. Periodic re-evaluations will be carried out during this period, and follow-up plans will be adjusted based on the recovery situation.

Home Rehabilitation Guidance After Treatment In China

The treatment plan you formulated during your stay in China can also be continued after you return to your country.

Personalized Health Assessment

These assessments you completed while in the hospital are not only the basis for the doctor to formulate a plan, but also the baseline for your self-management after returning to your country:

  • Pain Level Assessment: Understand your current pain level as a baseline for subsequent comparisons
  • Physical Function Assessment: Determine how much pain affects daily activities
  • Postural and motor function analysis: Identify postural and movement issues associated with pain
  • Sleep quality assessment: Assess the extent to which pain interferes with sleep
  • Psychological stress assessment: Understand the emotional impact of pain
  • Lifestyle Assessment: Identify factors that may aggravate pain during work, daily routine, and activities

Personalized Health Intervention

The plan based on the assessment results is designed with the execution conditions after you return to your country in mind, and each item can be continued in the home environment:

  • The comprehensive treatment plan of Traditional Chinese Medicine continues: The comprehensive conditioning plan of acupuncture, tuina, moxibustion, etc. formulated by the doctor based on your syndrome differentiation results can be adjusted to a simplified version of the home operation after returning home, or the doctor can guide your local Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner to continue the implementation.
  • Pain self-management methods: Teach you specific ways to relieve pain at home: where to press acupuncture points, when to use hot or cold compresses, how to record pain diaries, and emergency treatment steps when pain worsens
  • Sleep improvement plan: The sleep hygiene suggestions and relaxation training methods given based on the sleep assessment results can be implemented independently after returning home.
  • Home rehabilitation exercise plan: A set of rehabilitation exercise programs that can be implemented in a home environment to help you gradually restore function, maintain efficacy, and reduce the risk of relapse.

Frequently asked questions

Can it be "cured"?

We do not promise a cure; research suggests that acupuncture may help relieve chronic pain and migraine, but efficacy varies from person to person. Acupuncture is used as a supplement to standard treatments.

Is acupuncture safe?

Under standard operation, there are fewer adverse reactions, and it carries less risk of dependence than long-term oral analgesics. Please bring your entire medication list with you and have the interaction evaluated by a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. Do not stop taking the medication on your own.

What should I do if I can’t understand Chinese?

We will arrange a medical interpreter to accompany you throughout the entire process, from pre-arrival to follow-up, with our team ensuring smooth communication.

What examinations are required/how to arrange multidisciplinary consultation?

The initial workup includes imaging, electrophysiology, and other tests to clarify the cause and rule out the need for surgery or emergency care; for complex or long-term pain, a multidisciplinary team (pain/neurology/orthopedics/rehabilitation/TCM/imaging) can jointly develop a plan.
